Marc H. Harwitt, MD, FACP
Dr. Harwitt earned his Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He also received his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School His internship, Internal Medicine Residency, and Gastroenterology Fellowship was completed at the UCLA and V.A. Hospitals.
For several years, Dr. Harwitt has practiced Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Santa Monica. He is distinguished by his dedication and attention making high quality medical care accessible to patients. He has also volunteered for his community, serving indigent populations at the Venice Family Clinic. To add to his educational experiences, he devotes time in being an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Harwitt served as the Chairman of the Division of Gastroenterology and Medical Director of the Gastrointestinal Laboratory at the Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center for 12 years. He also served additional roles as Chairman of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for 7 years. His contributions to the field of gastroenterology were recognized through his election as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Other prestigious memberships he holds include the American Gastroenterology Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American College of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Harwitt has a great interest in politics and current events. He is a long time member of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. When not working, he enjoys skiing. bicycling, attending sporting events, and traveling with his family.
