Southern California Medical Gastroenterology Group recognizes the need for a definite understanding between the patient and the doctor concerning health care and the financial arrangements for this medical care. Our commitment is to provide the very best digestive health care for our patients while recognizing the need to limit services to only those that are necessary for each patient.
The responsibility for payment of fees for these services is the direct obligation of the patient. Any financial payment a patient may receive from private insurance or governmental agencies is a matter strictly between the patient and the insurance agency or the government agency. The physicians of SCMGG are participating Medicare physicians and accept the assignment of Medicare patients. But any deductibles or co-payments are the responsibility of the patient. This same responsibility exists for HMO’s or PPO’s our physicians participate in. Our billing department and front office staff are available to you with any inquiries you may have regarding this policy.
Our fees reflect the time spent by the doctor with you, the patient, the specialized nature of the doctor’s training, and the individual diagnostic studies performed. Our fees are among the lowest in the community. We will be pleased to discuss any fees with you at any time, and encourage you to inquire as to a fee before a service is rendered.
The increased cost of medical is due in part to the extraordinary amount of insurance paperwork. In order to reduce these costs, which allows us to keep our charges as low as possible, we ask that you be prepared to pay for your routine office visits and any co-payments or deductibles when the service is rendered. This also includes any fees required when you are scheduled for your procedure.
Of course, the fees for care while hospitalized or for specialized procedures can be paid on a mutually agreeable basis. Please let us know if you are having any particular financial problem—you will find the staff at Southern California Medical Gastroenterology Group understanding and patient.
Should you require our physicians to complete extra insurance forms, letters to lawyers, unemployment or disability forms, etc., it will be necessary to charge an extra fee due to the additional paperwork and time involved.
